Smart hubby wants me to talk about Fat Bob’s, as we went here before our trip, quote his words:” you have to!” Alright, how do I start?
Well, let me get straight to the point if you are a foodie who loves burgers and has a big stomach and picky appetite, go here! I bet you will find it hard to pick out any flaws.
If you are parents with jumpy bubbly littlies and want to have something quick and nice, go to Fat Bob’s as you all will come out happy and satisfied.
Surprisingly we haven’t been to this place since we moved to this neighbourhood. Honestly, every time we tried to book a table in the past, it was full. They have an online booking system which works out quite efficiently, there are spots available per every 15 minutes so you can see how fast the service can be.
Fat bob’s, a funny name (in my eyes) that makes me so curious how come its booked out all the time. I am a foodie with a 2-year-old and a hubby with a picky appetite since we ticked all the boxes of the target audience, I am stubborn enough to keep on trying their booking system. Finally, I managed to get us a spot two days in advance @5pm. Every family member was laughing how desperate I was on wanting to try a dining place. Thus we have to get to the restaurant not long after lunch time.
It was a Friday, think I was lucky to get that spot, two seconds later, the 5:15 and 4:45 were booked already. Anyway, for the mystery burger, we both got off work early, picked up little Zonni and my folks, rolled up their sleeves, ready for a big feast.
Fat Bob’s | Location & Vibe
To be frank, Fat Bob’s is not an easy to find and kinda low key. It doesn’t have a big sign showing its location but we know its right next to a furniture wholesale store and in the middle of an industrial area. Saw a big arrow telling us the entrance, which is quite a narrow gate that leads to a hallway where small tables are placed on both sides. Looking up there were loads of vintage neon light hanging on the wall and it felt like we travelled back to the 1980s. Our table was inside, so we kept walking and all I could hear was little Zonni’s “WOW”.
More neon lights and vintage commercial lighting from old times were everywhere on the ceiling and wall inside as well. The décor of the restaurant is definitely entertaining and kept little one quiet for a while till she realised she was supposed to be hungry by now.
Fat Bob’s | The Food
Their menu was simple to understand; every burger has its own funky name and then a short description of ingredients included. My favourite is Hummer because I love a bit of a kick, this one has a burst of jalapeno. Smart hubby loved FAT BOB’s VICTA, which was also delicious, the Asian slaw with a hint of coriander makes the whole burger full of fragrance. Their kid’s burgers have the same beef pattie, not many spices in there but the flavour of the meat was still awesome. Little Zonni wasn’t a big meat eater but she managed to finish half of that. (its a pretty generous serve)
Here attached their menu, pick out the one your heart goes to and give it a go. Time to make your stomach dance with a burger!
