Lilydale General | Lilydale

However, after nearly a week of our weekend road trip to Lilydale, a place called Lilydale General is still clearly popping out in my mind.

“Always write about your feelings and thoughts when they’re still fresh, otherwise you forget.” Truth to be told, it happens to me all the time, that’s why this is my principle of blogging. However, after nearly a week of our weekend road trip to Lilydale, a place called Lilydale General is still clearly popping out in my mind, this nicely hidden but spacious café reminds me another cozy spot close to home, The Tradesman.

Same as The Tradesman, the Lilydale General is located in the middle of an industrial area which normally not quite the area for brekkie hunters to pop into. But thanks to Google explore, Lilydale General dropped in on our visual map. “6 minutes’ drive from our motel,” I said. “Brilliant!” hubby responded. Before heading back home, we’d better feed everyone, by everyone, means little Zonni and me. You don’t want to deal with the women in our house when they’re hungry.

After a few turns, we arrived this nearly missed show-room like café, “oh, thought its an office with a front yard, nice!” I told myself quietly. The hidden part isn’t just the location but also the outlook, the white fence of the yard make the place kinda blend in the local industrial buildings, the light green logo is just not obvious enough for travellers, and its floor to ceiling windows make the whole place like a transparent glass box, it makes me relaxed just looking at it.

Walking in on a Saturday morning around 11, the timing is perfect, as in it’s not busy, so we could choose wherever we want to sit. For a family with two littlies, this can’t be better. We got a chance to slowly enjoy the generous space and some relaxation. The staff was attentive, a warm welcome led us to the seats, and soon after that, we got the drinks we ordered.

Lilydale General | The Food

Hubby ordered something from Lilydale General’somelette range, and I ordered baked hot cake with berry sauce and ice cream from their specials on the board.

Once I saw the omelette with chorizo, its unavoidable for me to have the first bite cause it looks amazing! And it did taste great! The tender omelette was cooked perfectly and the chorizo was a wonderful match.

My hotcake wasn’t special but it was also quite tasty. The cake was a bit too thick and heavy, but the combination of hot cake, ice-cream, berry sauce and pistachio were balanced and not so rich for a sweet breakfast choice. Plus, little Zonni loves it, so that’s a win.

Lilydale General’s pricing is more reasonable compared to Hutch & Co café we went the day before. Next time if I swing by Lilydale, I will definitely give their wide range of sweet treats a try, especially their massive vanilla slice!

Anyway, a good day for now and keep up the adventures!
