After a whole morning of cleaning, storytelling, cuddling and reorganizing the house (honestly sometimes I don’t see the point but need to get the habit of it). I finally have a few minutes before the little Uni wakes up. Well, she’s up already but think she’s talking to her little imaginary friend in bed, so I got about 5 minutes here to share my thoughts.
I am a strong believer of word-of-mouth, and creating a good one in the crowd isn’t easy. Heard a few friends telling me good things about this new café in Heatherton called Miss Mavis Cafe, which is situated in the middle of the industrial area in Heatherton. You might think it’s a standard formal place for having corporate lunches, but wait till you get there, it will change your assumption.
The first impression, Miss Mavis Cafe shows off its spacious outdoor area. Since it’s situated on the ground floor of an office building, it does provide the convenience for the general public and office workers to park in front.
They have designed a quite simple menu that is easy to pick and understand. The menu is perfect for a light meal or providing a selection of food for a function if needed. This newly opened (since 2016) café seems extremely calming in this busy spot of the Heatherton business park simply because of their style of servicing and eating environment. Artistic paintings and creative artwork are beautifully displayed on the walls. The whole space is filled with comfortable seats however it still gives you a spacious feel.
Miss Mavis Cafe only opens during the week for the neighbourhood. However, we managed to find a day when hubby worked from home and so we made our way there for an early lunch. Early since it gets quite busy during lunch-time (from noon onwards).
Miss Mavis Cafe | The Food
Parking is easy and their entrance is pram friendly. I ordered the fried calamari (aka the Kraken) and hubby got JUAN ON JUAN, which are soft tacos with chilli fried chicken stripes. My Kraken was flawless, and it’s just the right amount for me, as I’m no big lunch eater. However, if you are a big eater, you might find it’s not that filling though.
The fried chicken wasn’t bad, but it was not a “chilli” fried chicken as my smart hubby really couldn’t find the kick. With saying that, the flavour was nice and mild, but a bit more chilli sauce on the side would have made it better.
Coffee was very lovely, for us coffee lovers, it’s a fine place to get one either sitting in or take away.
If you’re curious about Miss Mavis Cafe in Moorabbin and can find a time during the week, go and have a try. They got 3 types of menus online, including sitting in menu, take away and catering menu. So give it a crack and try something new.
Gotta go, the baby is super up!
