As parents of two, we’re always on the lookout for new takeaway places, just so we are prepared for chaotic days when we are not in the mood of cooking. And Miss Viet in Cheltenham is a new little Vietnamese place that caught our attention when we drove by one day.

When thinking about Vietnamese cuisine, most of us will say “PHO”. So when miss Viet came into town, we were quite curious about the other parts of the Vietnamese cuisine. To have a test round to see if it’s worth our wallet, ordering takeaway would be a wiser way. Just in the case going there with two kiddos and coming out with an unhappy stomach plus many tantrums.

So after a long and cold day, we were aiming to get something from them to warm up our night.

Miss Viet | Service & Price

A bubbly and polite lady on the phone took our order and mentioned it would take 15 minutes for our order to be ready. I Wasn’t planning to order too many as the price mark was not cheap for a family takeaway meal. So we ordered one serve of vegetarian spring rolls, one Miss V (Egg noodle soup with chicken, wombok and quail egg) and Ms Saigon (Pork, Prawn Calamari with thin egg noodle and curry sauce), altogether cost $41. Take away is slightly cheaper than dining in, however, it’s pretty much the same.
They were quite efficient, once hubby got there after 15 minutes, our food was all ready and packed.

Miss Viet | Food

First impression when we saw the packed dinner: a bit disappointed as it looked far not enough to feed 2 adults and a hungry toddler.
I unpacked everything and happily found out that even the packaging was quite compact. Plus, looking inside: there was plenty of food! So quantity-wise, decent I say.

It all came down to the flavour. Freshly fried spring rolls rolled with beautifully flavoured vegetables and unlike pre-fried ones in some other places, they were all warm inside out! Crunchy skin wrapped with finely cut and nicely seasoned veggies dipped in their sweet chilli sauce, just perfect!

We all love noodles, that’s why we ordered Miss V and Ms Saigon. These are two totally different dishes. Miss V is a light noodle soup with loads of green vegetables, poached chicken slices and hard-boiled quail eggs. The soup was sweet and filled with chicken flavour, they used thin egg noodles, which were soft and full of texture. It doesn’t look like a dish with much going on, but once you’ve tasted, you know its full of contents.

And Ms Saigon, on the contrast, was a quite colourful stir fry noodle dish with lots happening on the surface already, let alone in your mouth! It has a quite interesting kick with that curry sauce, and the combination worked so well and it was the first dish to be finished.

In general, we were satisfied with the meal, and they did warm up our night! Pretty sure we will make our trip to Miss Viet again and soon we’ll find out if it’s a kids’ friendly place too!

Papparich, in my eyes, can be a fine presenter of Malaysian food. I have only been to the Papparich in Chadstone shopping centre.
