Steamed Egg
My smart hubby has been blaming me keeping the recipe for making steamed egg for the baby a secret. So here, we finally share with you this deliciously quick Steamed Egg recipe.
Always loved my bitter cookies (bitterkoekjes) when living back in the Netherlands. In the past we would bring some bags of bitter cookies with us on the plane while travelling back to Australia. However, since the we created a super easy and quick bitter cookies recipe of our own , we haven’t imported any of them.
Preheat the oven to 185 Degrees
Mix the sugar, meal and almond essence in a large bowl
Pour in the egg whites into the mixture bit by bit and mix it all to a solid dough
Put baking paper on a baking plate
Create little bowls (size of a teaspoon) and push them slowly down on the baking plate
Bake them golden brown in the oven for approx. 10-12 minutes

Hi, what is the 6th step? Does it bake for 15 minutes? The recipe is unfinished for the Dutch bitter cookies
Sorry, completely forgot to add the final step! Thanks for picking that up! We have updated the recipe. Baking time is approx. 10-12min.
Do the egg whites need to be beaten stiff?
Hi Diny,
Sorry for the late reply. You don’t need to beat the egg whites stiff.
