Bitter Cookies (Dutch Bitterkoekjes)

Always loved my bitter cookies (bitterkoekjes) when living back in the Netherlands. In the past we would bring some bags of bitter cookies with us on the plane while travelling back to Australia. However, since the we created a  super easy and quick bitter cookies recipe of our own , we haven’t imported any of them.

Ingredients

 300 gr Almond Meal
 300 gr Sugar
 4 tsp Almond Essence
 4 Egg whites

Directions

Preheat the oven to 185 Degrees

Mix the sugar, meal and almond essence in a large bowl

Pour in the egg whites into the mixture bit by bit and mix it all to a solid dough

Put baking paper on a baking plate

Create little bowls (size of a teaspoon) and push them slowly down on the baking plate

Bake them golden brown in the oven for approx. 10-12 minutes

  1. Hi, what is the 6th step? Does it bake for 15 minutes? The recipe is unfinished for the Dutch bitter cookies

    1. Sorry, completely forgot to add the final step! Thanks for picking that up! We have updated the recipe. Baking time is approx. 10-12min.
