Another day with no idea what to make for lunch and loads of leftover dinner rolls which I feel pity to throw away. I assume many of you have come across to miscalculating the amount of food for the party and ending up with mountains of leftovers.
Hence, “I have to do something with these leftover bread rolls”, a thought came up.
Putting everything together and chuck it in the oven until it’s cooked is becoming more and more like my style nowadays. Especially now when the cold weather hits, something warm would brighten up my day as well as my stomach.
After this successful trial, I am proudly presenting to you my so-called “leftover dinner roll pudding” (AKA Bread Pudding), easy, quick and most importantly, YUMMY!
Bread Pudding FAQs
What is bread pudding?
Bread pudding is a dessert made from leftover bread that has been soaked in a custard mixture and baked until set. It can be served warm or cold and is often topped with a sauce, such as vanilla sauce or caramel sauce.
What kind of bread is best for bread pudding?
Stale or day-old bread is best for bread pudding, as it will absorb the custard mixture better than fresh bread. Any type of bread can be used, but traditional choices include white bread, brioche, or challah.
Can I add fruit or other ingredients to my bread pudding?
Yes, you can customize your bread pudding by adding fruit, chocolate chips, nuts, or other ingredients to the custard mixture. Simply stir them in with the bread cubes before pouring the mixture into the baking dish.
How can I make a vegan or dairy-free bread pudding?
To make a vegan or dairy-free bread pudding, substitute the milk and eggs with non-dairy alternatives, such as almond milk and flax eggs. You can also use vegan butter or coconut oil instead of butter.
