Sugar Syrup Coated Walnuts
Sugar Syrup Coated Walnuts are quite addictive and it will be hard to resist not to finish them at once! Your kids will love them too!
Getting your kids to enjoy or even just eating Brussels Sprouts can be a very challenging job. This recipe we would like to share with you today, will make it a bit easier for you in the future to make your young ones enjoy some hearty vegetables. The secret of this recipe is adding some sweetness to overcome the bitterness of the Brussels Sprouts.
Cut off the ends and remove the outer leafs of the Brussels sprouts. Plus, wash them. Boil them in boiling water with a pinch of salt for approx. 5 minutes or until they are tender. Remove them from the heat and set them aside.
Peal the apple and cut it into small squares.
Cut the bacon into small stripes and cook them in a frying pan (without butter) until they are nice and crispy.
Get rid of the “bacon vet”. Add half of the butter and heat up the Brussels sprouts in it. Spice it up by adding some nutmeg, salt and pepper.
Put the rest of the butter into another frying pan. Add the apple pieces and heat it up for a 3-5 minutes. After that sprinkle it with the sugar and let it lightly caramelise.
Mix the Brussels sprouts with the bacon and apple. Serve it immediately with some nice boiled potatoes.
