Always get excited to explore a new spot and this time, we found a place to settle our Saturday breakfast before little Zonni’s ballet class: AM PM Cafe in Highett.
AM PM, a nice spacious café situated at the corner of major street and Highett Road, right underneath a block of apartments with nice sittings outside as well as inside. AM PM’s open kitchen gives you a welcoming feeling once you walk in. It’s like walking into a home where you can see how your food is cooked, at least little zonni got occupied for a bit while we had a few minutes to read the menu.
Only an hour we had, apart from a nice eating environment and friendly staff, I worried about the speed of serving. Quickly we were seated by the waiter and handed the menus. I ordered the gingerbread hot cake while hubby went for the scrambled eggs, no surprise there. The food service was fast as well! For the first time, we always pick some food we are familiar with, just in case.

The hotcake didn’t look much, compared to the red velvet pancakes from The Tradesmen. However, in the end, I was full! The seasonal fruits they put on top combined with vanilla ricotta, caramelised walnuts, and gingerbread flavour, created a whole season of flavours playing in my mouth. It was quite a comforting breakfast.
Also, the scrambled eggs were soft and buttery, and it did come as a quite big portion as well. Little Zonni went bananas with the eggs so daddy had to finish it fast 🙂
We do go back to AM PM Cafe for brekkie quite often nowadays on Saturdays. Some other dishes to try at AM PM are their granola with berries, veggie stirfry with poached egg, French Toast and their egg benedict.

AM PM is just walking distance from the train station and community library. That’s why its location is a big thumbs-up. However, the parking can be tricky, since Major St doesn’t have much on-street parking available and it’s a narrow street to do any turn. Therefore, it’s better to park somewhere close like the library then there.
Have a great day!
xx
